Re: Help Please! [P]

Hello,

You might have a corrupted profile and have to create a new one. I will give instructions for that.

How to copy data from a corrupted user profile to a new profile in Windows XP

As for the StopZilla do this:

  • Start
  • Run
  • msconfig
  • startup tab

Now in here stop StopZilla from coming up. After that download and run Revo Uninstaller.

Download Revo Uninstaller Freeware - Free and Full Download

Use that with the moderate settings to fully get rid of StopZilla from your machine. It will delete the Registry entries and all. That will get rid of the StopZilla issue once and for all.

As for the Audio give me the make and model of the PC and i will find your audio drivers and give you instructions on how to install them correctly.

Cheers,
Mak

Re: Help Please! [P]

by the way...would my CFScript.txt always be the same because I have not deleted that file yet.

Re: Help Please! [P]

Hello,

No. They change depeding on the situation. They are created specifically for each log file. You can delete the file now.

Re: Help Please! [P]

Thanks for the way to get rid of stopzilla, but I paid for that. I has something on my computer last year that wiped out my desktop...I only had a grey screen and icons...stopzilla was the only thing that found it and isolated it...and that was the free version. I figured it helped me with that..I was keeping it.

For the audio...I have a Dell dimension 2400. I have seen the drivers listed on the Dell support sight but not sure if I should download those.

As far at corrupt profile...my husband and I each have our own profile. His tend to load fast, yet still slower than before. Sometimes our task bar at the botton is normal (we both have window XP style appearance..him blue, me silver)...and other times it looks like windows classic.

Thanks for all your help!

ps...I didn't even notice it had gone to 2 pages.

Re: Help Please! [P]

Hello,

Could you please download and run Aida32.

|MG| AIDA32 - Personal System Information 3.93

You will need WinRar to extract it.

http://www.rarlabs.com/rar/wrar371.exe

Install WinRar and then right click on the downloaded Aida32 file and use the Extract to <File name> option. This will then proceed to extract the file to a folder.

Open the folder with Aida32 and then run the execuatable file. In there check the Multimedia part and let me know what it says in the device description area. Like shown below:

aidascreen.png

This will allow me to know what your audio device is so that i can suggest the correct drivers to use.

As for the corrupt profile i still think that is the issue. There are steps that can be taken to import your profile to a new one which might prove to be usedul to you:

How to recover the damaged user profile in Windows XP

That page there gives you the full details on how to do it.

As for stopzilla. That will have to be dealt with after we can get some of the other thigns worked out.

Cheers,
Mak

Re: Help Please! [P]

Ok I downloaded...open the file...clicked on aida32.exe...I'm I correct so far?

I then clicked on windows audio...nothing was there. However under reports, I did run report wizard and here's what I got in the audio section (I hope I copied all the right stuff).....

Re: Help Please! [P]

Hello,

That will work. First i need you to download and run Driver Cleaner Pro.

Driver Cleaner Professional download from Guru3D.com

Use that to clean out any and all Dell, SoundMax and SigmaTel drivers. Then reboot the PC.

After that go to this part of the Dell site:

Drivers and Downloads

That is the most recent set of Audio drivers for your system. Those should install and work no problem.

Cheers,
Mak

Re: Help Please! [P]

Thanks. I got the audio working. I also got my computer to load faster. I really wasn't into doing the recover of the profiles, so I investigated the vista antivirus 2008 again. I did the removal steps...which required a running of malwarbytes anti malware. I ran that..called it a night. This morning...all was much better.

Thank you.

Re: Help Please! [P]

Hello,

Not a problem. Glad all is working.

Moved and closed.
