Hey, on my friend's XP comp right now, whenever he tries to open anything to do with explorer, everything freezes, and the process drwtsn32 shows up in task manager. It doesn't show up in Hijack This! as far as I can see. Any ideas other than reformat/install Linux?

then run combofix and then malwarebytes and the cleanup! and then ccleaner and then post a new hijackthis log and post the logs from combofix and malwarebytes as well.
 
Heh, yeah he's been running it for years with no reformats or anything, the install is about 8 years old and the machine even older :p You can see why he asked me for some help.

I'll do all that when next I'm round, which should be in the next couple of days, then I'll report back :)
 
Haven't had a chance to go round yet, either today or tomorrow.
 
Okay, I managed to convince him to install Linux instead. But I will try cleaning the XP system, I want the experience :D Going round later today.
