please help me. i am desperate to save this computer.

pvkimcheeb0i, I am sorry this post got lost in the suffle. I was on vacation when you posted and when I got back it was a few days before I got back into the swing of it. I'm sorry for that. I really hope you don't need help still but if you do, here is your log read. Liz

Create a folder on your C drive and call it something like MalwareTools. Download CoolWeb Shredder, CWS SmartKiller, CWS Reg fix, and put your copy of HiJack This in this folder as well. Unzip but do NOT run any of these yet.

Next, copy these instruction on notepad since you will not have access to them while in safe mode.

Because XP will not always show you hidden files and folders by default, Go to Start > Search and under "More advanced search options".
Make sure there is a check by "Search System Folders" and "Search hidden files and folders" and "Search system subfolders" Show hidden files & folders

Next click on My Computer. Go to Tools > Folder Options. Click on the View tab and make sure that "Show hidden files and folders" is checked. Also uncheck "Hide protected operating system files" and "Hide extensions for known file types". Now click "Apply to all folders"
Click "Apply" then "OK"

Reboot into Safe Mode

Run CoolWeb Shredder.

Run CWS SmartKiller

Run CWS Reg fix

Run Hijack This again and put a check by these. Close ALL windows except HijackThis and click "Fix checked"

Then post another log. Liz

Lets see what we can do to get you back up and running.
First we need to do a couple of things.

You are currently using hijackthis from a temp directory. This can cause problems. Please create a directory on your c: drive called c:\hijackthis and download and unzip hijackthis into that directory. Run the program from that directory from now on.

For a tutorial on how to use HijackThis please see the following link:

Using HijackThis to Remove Spyware, Browser Hijackers, and Dialers

Please post back a new HJT log.
