Hello, new here, and in desperate need of some help.

A week ago I decided I wanted to switch from Avast! back to AVG free, and have been having problems ever since. I deleted/uninstalled all of the antivirus files I can find, yet I can't reinstall ANY programs.

This is the error message from Avast!:

This is error message from AVG:

Error: Action failed for file avgmfx86.sys: starting service....
Error 0x80070002
Rollback:
Error: Action failed for file avgmfx86.sys: starting service....
Error 0x80070002
I looked up solutions to this AVG problem but none worked. I couldn't find a good, free registry cleaner, though I deleted the AVG folder from my Program Files. I tried using AVG Remover and it warns me of a computer restart in order to continue, restarts, and then does nothing at all.

Kind of going crazy, so I tried to download Avira and got this message:
A secure connection is required to activate the product (SSL encrypted). This could not be established. Please address the following issues and repeat the product activation.

- Ensure that the internet can be accessed
- Ensure that the system date is correct
- If in use, check your modem connection
- Ensure that the application fact.exe can access the internet and is not blocked by a firewall

I'm using a secure wireless connection. My system date is correct, and obviously I can access the internet. I have no idea why I can't install antivirus. I've been able to install other programs....I can't figure out what the problem is.

Oh, and a friend of mine had me run HijackThis recently, here's the log from just now.

I can't find those entries at all, neither in normal mode nor safe mode. I tried viewing hidden files and they're not there.

Is the file path wrong? Because I don't see them in my Program Files.

Remove them using HiJackThis, not manually.
Ah, I feel like a noob.

Okay, did that in safe mode. These ones didn't show up:
O23 - Service: avast! iAVS4 Control Service (aswUpdSv) - ALWIL Software - C:\Program Files\Alwil Software\Avast4\aswUpdSv.exe

O23 - Service: avast! Antivirus - ALWIL Software - C:\Program Files\Alwil Software\Avast4\ashServ.exe

O23 - Service: avast! Web Scanner - ALWIL Software - C:\Program Files\Alwil Software\Avast4\ashWebSv.exe

Here's the new log. Actually, AVG things are showing up in the log but NOT in the actual HijackThis window. So I can see them in the notepad file, but not where I can remove/fix them.
edit: Sometimes they show up in the edit box, and I remove/fix, but they're still there when I re-scan.
Specifically
O23 - Service: AVG8 WatchDog (avg8wd) - Unknown owner - C:\PROGRA~1\AVG\AVG8\avgwdsvc.exe (file missing)
I can't seem to fix it.

Are you able to install AVG?

No. I get the same error.

Local machine: installation failed
Installation:
Error: Action failed for file avgmfx86.sys: starting service....
Error 0x80070002
Rollback:
Error: Action failed for file avgmfx86.sys: starting service....
Error 0x80070002

Are you able to stop and disable the services thru start, run services.msc and press enter?
Can you delete their directories under program file either in normal mode or safemode?
