hi guys, lately ive been working on my buddy's laptop and its completely infected and right now its beyond me, but i have faith that you guys could give me a hand. well i have adaware, spybot, and avg on already and ive tryed many scans with them and seems to get rid of the easy stuff but when running AVG full system scan its picked up lots of trojans. and even after deleting them they seem to be back again. alot of times when i go under control panel ill get a avg alert that that theres a virus detected and its the trojan called startpage.19.j and even after i put it into the vault healed it or deleted it, its back again. i have prepared the computer for hijack this by running adaware, spybot and hjt while in safemode, like i said the trojans make there way back after reboot and ive tryed my best but its out of my hands, thanks so much guys heres my log.(i believe i did it right)

Hi and Welcome to TF

My O My you got some nastys and this is going to take several steps to clear them all out.

Before attacking an adware/spyware problem with hijackthis make sure you have already run the following tools. Download and update the databases on each program before running.

Also make sure you are using the the latest version (1.99.1) of HijackThis and it's installed in it's own folder on the root drive. (C:\HJT)

STEP 1
++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++

Right click a blank part of your desktop & select New->Folder. Call it SPFix. Go to http://www.derbilk.de/404.html and download SpSeHjfix. Get the one that's specified for your Operating System. So if you have Windows 98, get the one that's listed for Windows 98.

Disconnect from the net and close all programs. Run SpSeHjfix and click on 'Start Disinfection'. When it's finished it will reboot your machine to finish the cleaning process. The tool creates a log of the fix which will appear in the folder.

If it doesn't find any of the SE files or any hidden reinstallers it will say system clean and not go on to next stage.

SpSeHjfix <---save this log as I will ask for it later.

Now run the CWShredder and hit the Fix button.

Step 2
+++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++

Download smitRem.exe and save the file to your desktop.
Double click on the file to extract it to it's own folder on the desktop.

Place a shortcut to Panda ActiveScan on your desktop.

If you have not already installed Ad-Aware SE 1.06, follow these download and setup instructions, otherwise, check for updates:
Ad-Aware SE Setup
Don't run it yet!

Next, please reboot your computer in SafeMode by doing the following:
  1. Restart your computer
  2. After hearing your computer beep once during startup, but before the Windows icon appears, press F8.
  3. Instead of Windows loading as normal, a menu should appear
  4. Select the first option, to run Windows in Safe Mode.
Now scan with HJT and place a checkmark next to each of the following items and click FIX CHECKED:

Close HiJackThis.

Delete the following Files/Folders in RED (delete folders if no filename is specified or if they are highlighted in RED) according to their directory (If you can't find them...do a search for themÂ…make sure you have search hidden files, folders, sub directoryÂ’s ect enabled if it applyÂ’s to your OS)

C:\WINDOWS\SYSTEM\K7VIB38T.DLL
C:\WINDOWS\SYSTEM\GLBJ.DLL
C:\WINDOWS\SYSTEM\VBRUNDLL.DLL
C:\WINDOWS\SYSTEM\PTL.exe
c:\windows\system\cd1.exe
c:\windows\system\abcdefgh.exe
C:\Program Files\WildTangent\Apps\CDA\GameDrvr.exe
C:\WINDOWS\SYSTEM\intell32.exe
C:\Program Files\PSGuard\PSGuard.exe
C:\WINDOWS\SYSTEM\BC.DLL
gxlib.exe
<--search for and delete that file.

*Note* Skip the ones you can't remove and proceed with the fix.

Open the smitRem folder, then double click the RunThis.bat file to start the tool. Follow the prompts on screen.
Wait for the tool to complete and disk cleanup to finish.

The tool will create a log named smitfiles.txt in the root of your drive, eg; Local Disk C: or partition where your operating system is installed. Please post that log along with all others requested in your next reply.

Open Ad-aware and do a full scan. Remove all it finds.

If listed.....Remove the check by "View my Active desktop as a web page".
Click OK then Apply and OK.

Reboot back into Windows and click the Panda ActiveScan shortcut.
- Once you are on the Panda site click the Scan your PC button
- A new window will open...click the Check Now button
- Enter your Country
- Enter your State/Province
- Enter your e-mail address and click send
- Select either Home User or Company
- Click the big Scan Now button
- If it wants to install an ActiveX component allow it
- It will start downloading the files it requires for the scan (Note: It may take a couple of minutes)
- When download is complete, click on Local Disks to start the scan
- When the scan completes, if anything malicious is detected, click the See Report button, then Save Report and save it to a convenient location.

Post the contents of the Panda scan report, along with a new HijackThis Log, the contents of smitfiles.txt and the SpSeHjfix log and we will continue.
