Recommended Protection Programs

Now that you are clean, to help protect your computer in the future I recommend that you get the following free programs:
  • SpywareBlaster to help prevent spyware from installing in the first place.
  • SpywareGuard to catch and block spyware before it can execute.
  • IESpy-Ad to block access to malicious websites so you cannot be redirected to them from an infected site or email.
  • WinPatrol to monitor any changes that programs make to the registry.

If you do not have a firewall, here are 4 free ones available for personal use:

In todayÂ’s world you MUST have an Antivirus program. If you do not have one, here are 3 FREE ones available for personal use:

In light of your recent issue, I'm sure you'll like to avoid any future infections. Please take a look at these well written articles
Please stay safe out there and take the helpful advice thatÂ’s been given. The goal here is to prevent the adware/spyware/virus/worms from getting on the system in the first place.

Im right now installing the OutPost Firewall.....while that is taking place...i thought I would tell you how everything else is...the panda log...man that takes forever...but worth it.....thanks....You didnt mention a System Restor Point for Win 2000, thats what Im running....do I need one?, I already Installed all of the protection programs...so far the win patrol is well liked....another one you had me do....the Ewido..is that going to expire...it says somthing about 14 days...but that hasnt changed..and weve been working on this for 4 days now....and for the 3 antivirus programs you have there...can i install and run all 3...overkill is never bad when it comes o this....my laptop was actually rebooting awhile back...since youve been helping me..not once....not a popup in sight....your the man.....so far..lol.....let me know what to do next...i have to reboot to get the firewall to install the rest of the way....thanks bro

The speech above is for all Windows Systems. Windows 2000 doesn't have a restore option...so you would skip it. As for the antivirus....use only 1. If you want...you can use 2...but make sure only 1 is running all the time protecting. Use the second as just a scanner.

Ewido will expire in 14 days. We just used it to clean the system. You can still use that feature...but will lose the "real time" function once it expires.

This has been a real good thing.....this is my laptop...my office puter isnt running bad..but i think i will post up a hijack log to see whats that....i hope im not taking up all your time..how is it that you can do all this and not charge.....??

I'm a nice guy? Honestly..I remember when I had a spyware issue long ago and had trouble finding any help. And those that I did wanted money for help and programs to clean the PC. And I thought.."Great". I have to pay....to remove the crap someone else put on my PC. Thats BULLSH*T. It should be FREE...and thats how it started. :D

Anyway..there's now alot of FREE forums that will talk you through the removal process. This isn't my home forum...but I visit often to help others...as there are no security analysts on this forum.

My office computer.....whatch see here?

More bad guys......... :(

Before attacking an adware/spyware problem with hijackthis make sure you have already run the following tools. Download and update the databases on each program before running.

Also make sure you are using the the latest version (1.99.1) of HijackThis and it's installed in it's own folder on the root drive. (C:\HJT)

Please go to at least two of these sites and run an online Virus Scan.
Be sure to have the AutoFix box(s) checked if the site has that option.
