usb cable not working.

Hey guys,
I have a samsung M300 and I bought a USB cable for it online so that I could transfer the pics in my fone to my Laptop. I downloaded the driver for the m300 and verified it (it is showing up in the device drivers list). When I connect my fone to the laptop, I just hear a beep and thats it. My fone shows that a USB is connected but when I go to "my computer", only the hard drives and my dvd drives show up. What could be going on? I'm using windows vista.

Theres a number of reasons this can happen. There first thing I would suggest is that you plug it in and just wait. If it doesn't come up on My Computer, it might come up on the little box that pops up whenever you insert an external memory device. This has happened on my old computer a number of times with my old phone. I couldn't get it to communicate with the contacts program I downloaded. Try my suggestion a couple of times. It has worked for me and can't hurt at all.
