my wife just bought a new (to her) phone. it is a new old stock phone, a Samsung Gravity .txt (specs here https://www.gsmarena.com/samsung_gravity_txt_t379-4123.php ). she HAS to have an old phone, as she can not understand how to use a decent phone, i have tried! it came with an unlock code, which i think i did correctly. when i check using the code i found online it says it is unlocked. anyway, it was originally a T Mobil phone, and weare trying to use a tracfone safelink service. so we called tracfone, and followed their recommendations, and bought a tracfone BYOP sim card kit. i installed it this morning, and tried to activate it. after talking with a nice lady (from India i think) she told us that we need a verizon sim card, because they own the cell phone tower nearest us. ok,fine, so i go to the tracfone site to order one, and that is where i get confuzed. tracfone says the sim card is a CDMA card, and according to what i read, this is a GSM phone. and i thought the two were not compatible. i am not worried about the cost of the sim card, i just do not want to get something that will not work at all. will this work?

once i saw the Verizon sim was CDMA, i had a gut feeling it was wrong. i went back and checked the phone specs, then cane and posted here. it just did not seem right. we already bought and tried using the t mobile sim card, which did not work. so i will get an ATT card coming. thanks!

so, we got an AT&T sim card, which was apparently the right one. because tracfone/safelink managed to activate it. but the phone is not working. the lady said that by the description of what was going on (and she worked on this for better than 15 minutes), it sounded to her like the phone was not unlocked. i used a you tube viseo to guide me thru the process (

Get a virtual phone numbers app https://www.numeroesim.com/.. it's much less hassle. Get a whatever smartphone, download the app and buy numbers.. easy as that.
