If the process to unlock your Apple iPhone fails you might end with a so called bricked iPhone that is not working properly anymore. That's probably the worst scenario for any iPhone user who tinkered with the phone trying to unlock it.
Those users might be in for a surprise though because the new official firmware released by Apple seems to be able to resurrect a bricked phone. It seems that the original firmware, the bricked one, is overwritten by this new update.
The Apple iPhone Firmware Update v1.1.3 was applied by putting the iPhone into recovery mode, connecting it to iTunes and restoring / upgrading it. The phone hat to be activated in iTunes afterwards and was working fine after restarting the iPhone.
Gizmodo has a video up showing how they applied the new firmware for the iPhone.
