Question about Tethering

Hi, all. I'm new to the forum, and I'm also a bit ignorant of techie jargon. Could someone clarify something for me related to data tethering?

If I have a data tethering plan with my iPhone and I use that plan in order to connect to the Internet on my laptop, how would I properly express to someone that I am using that data to connect to the Internet?

Would I say "I'm tethering the connection / data / Internet through my phone" or something else altogether? Thanks, guys!

Yeah pretty much anything along those lines, "I've tethered my phone to my laptop", anything like that and people will know what you mean

What I do, if the person that I'm talking with has an idea about tech, I use the word "tether" otherwise I'll tell them that I'm sharing internet or data from my phone to computer or laptop. You can also say "tether" with a follow up explanation regarding what is it all about. It will help not just with "tether" but any other jargon.
