Default Pone as airport card

Hello,

Thank you for taking a look at my post.

I have a desktop cpu. I have a phone that can tether, but i have a limited amount of data. I'm in a house with wifi. Is it possible to use my phone to connect my computer to the wifi? I can not use a wire to directly connect my cpu.

wifi > phone < computer...... Possible ???

Thanks for the help....!

Cheers, Cad

Yes that's definitely possible.

1. Connect your phone to your house wifi
2. Connect your phone via a USB cable to the Desktop
3. Turn on 'USB Tethering' on your phone

Voila, your Desktop will be connected to your house wifi!

If you need more specific instructions, please post what phone model you have and what Operating System your Desktop is running (e.g. Windows 7? Windows 10, Or is it a Mac?)

turn on USB tethering on the phone. Phone said cannot have wifi and tethering on at the same time.

computer is running windows 7
i7-2600k cpu @ 3.40 ghz

64 bit OS

Phone is a samsung Galaxy J7

Model number SM-J700T1

Hmmm! You may have accidentally tried to turn on your mobile hotspot, which indeed cannot be used at the same time as another wifi connection. Was it a box labelled "USB Tethering" specifically that you ticked?

Try these instructions: https://support.t-mobile.com/docs/DOC-30314
