Tomorrow is my dads birthday, he seems to want to switch over to ATT so he can get an apple iPhone. The reason why I'm posting here is because I have heard that there has been trouble with newer iPhones overheating. Is this common? Is this with the 3G model and the 3G S model? or is it just the 3G S version.

Thanks

i have not had a problem with my iPhone over heating. Then again, it's the middle of winter here.

It doesn't overheat.

I used the GPS and Internet whilst my parents where driving 350miles, so about 3.5hours of continuous use. To the other side of wales for a holiday, and it was a pretty warm day (for British standards) around 24celcius. Yes, the back got noticeabley hot - but no hotter than my dads smartphone, a HTC Touch HD. The phone still operated perfectly.

Surely almost any electronic device is going to produce heat.. like Oreo said.. not just the iPhone gets hot after continous use. Perhaps its just slightly hotter because of all the apps its using.. and people are just over reacting.
