HP TouchPad

Just bought a TouchPad, which has a discontinued OS via web server. Said server was shutdown this past March.
I want to install an OS on it, however, upon opening the device, I found the serial number card is in a card reader that isn't connected to the main/motherboard.
My questions are:
1) What card form fits in it?
2) How would one be able to connect it to the main/motherboard to be usable?

That little board looks like a sim card reader to me? I might be wrong...

Not sure about the larger part, Do you have a guide on what your trying to achieve? post the link here so I can see.. Never heard of this before so I'll try my best... Hopefully someone else knows more and can give a hand

Could you post some better shots of the board where you pulled it off of? The gray "tab" that was under it almost looks like a ribbon connector, which would be the data connection.
