I want to use a power supply to run some PC fans in a power center I have build for my Saltwater reef tank. I don't want to use the wall warts to power individual fans.
I want to keep the PS as intact as possible as I may add a motherboard and control some X-10 gear for automation.
Anyone have any links to sites that show how to use a PS independent of a PC?

It is a 300w powerman supply, model# fsp300-60bt.

Thanks
Whip.

All you have to do is connect the green wire in the motherboard power connector to any of the black (GROUND) wires in that same clip.

This is VERY easy to do. Just make SURE that it isn't plugged in when you do it... (but hey, that's what natural selection is for, right? :coo: )

Here are 2 pics of the mobile Power Supply I made (it was a REALLY junky PS.. like 180 Watts from an OLD OLD OLD case). I use it to test fans and drives before taking the time to install them. You CAN get the wires to be longer, I just made them short cause there is no need for them to be long for my use for it, and it doesn't get all tangled up in stuff.
