tech site that accepts guest post

Not for nothing, and I don't mean to be disrespectful, but maybe you guys need to ease up on some of the strict rules that you have in place. I understand things like trolling with multiple accounts, opening new threads that already have active discussions on the same topic, etc, are counter-productive in many ways, however, at the same time, I'll bet you anything that part of the reason people don't bother registering and/or sticking around is because of all of the rules.

It's an online forum, a place of discussion; no one wants to be reprimanded or banned because of something trivial like a double post because they couldn't find the answer they were seeking through a search. I mean it seems like every other question has a moderator jumping in with "Rule 22 under article 42, section 27, subsection D clearly states that such and such is strictly prohibited." If that's the mentality and vibe that's going around, then people will think to themselves why even bother.

Again, take it for what it's worth, but it's just an observation/suggestion. I know several others feel the same way, but I figured I'd bite the bullet and throw it out there because even though I'm new myself to the tech-forums community, I would like to see to grow and expand as well.

This.

I think Tech Forums is doing enough by itself at getting rid of members

It's not so bad for well established members who tend to get away with more stuff, but it's a pretty frightening forum for new members.

This.

I remember when I started here getting a few infractions and being threatened with a suspension for using a sig image 60x60 bigger than the limit and using text with too big a font size...

well, i'm NEW. Just testing the waters so far. :)

Dont post an image.
Dont swear.
Dont argue with a mod.
Dont edit your sig.
Dont talk about politics.
Use correct spelling and punctuation
Dont mention guns
Dont mention Apple Inc.

^ You may just survive if you follow them rules

Don't worry I got suspended twice and received about 40 infractions. To be fair, quite a few of those were because I was a **** when I joined.

Although I have to say, that I like TF better than all the others because of some of the strict standards they have in place.

It makes it a place where useful/insightful advice pops out at you, instead of having to weed through the garbage (spam/trolls/etc.)

Some of the rules are good. Some, i'm not so sure.

But yes - tech forums is better than most in some ways.

You know what would make it even better?
A dark theme
How long have we been waiting for that? When was the site redesign? 2010? 2011?

So, are you guys all solutions engineers or architects in the IT business? Just trying to figure out what the typical "member" looks like?

thanks.
I'm a helpdesk/it-technician, we're a small it department (only 3 guys with 1 being my boss). Also will be graduating this May with an Associate's as an IT-network specialist.

I'll be graduating next year with a degree in computer science and computer information systems and probably a minor in Physics
