http://www.dvnation.com/ssd.html has SSDs now! From 8GB to 128GB in capacity. IDE and SATA. As low as $599. The speeds vary but the features are mostly the same. Indestructable. I put the 16GB SSD in my Aopen Pandora miniPC and will put one in my next laptop computer.

The MMO i play use's those to reduce lag. And they do a **** good job. Seeing how they supprt up to 30,000 players on one server (cluster) no sharding. :)

Yeah that price is real steep. Another alternative would be a hybrid hard drive. The best of both worlds. Even though the hybrid does not have as a high power reduction as a full flash hard drive but you still get a power usage reduction with the capacity of a standard hard drive. The price of a hybrid hard drive should start coming down now that Samsung has some competition from Seagate who released their hybrid last week. http://www.pcmag.com/article2/0,1895,1973122,00.asp. And with Microsoft making it mandatory that any new hardware wishing to have the Vista premium logo must use a hybrid hard drive there may begin stiff competition of hard drive manufacturers to get into the latest devices.
