using 40nm instead of 55nm, and architectural tweaks. And an appropriate cooler.

Lol, sometimes I wonder about ATI and there heat... Atleast the card can with stand the heat...

There isn't anything weird about this. ATI has a 6 month cycle similar to Intel's tick tock. 6 months after the new gpu family is released they come out with a die shrink along with improvements. That isn't anything new, ATI told us they were going to do that. R800 will launch at the same process size as RV790 and then 6 months later they will shrink it too.

umm kinda off topic, but any info on GT218 or GT300 yet?

The GTX250 is a 9800GTX+ so the GT218 will probably be more old repackaged gpus. As for GT300, I don't know. I assume a natural evolution of GT200.
