R520 only 16 pipes

Wow, $599, what a ripoff. I can't believe ATI has failed yet again..i thought they would do better this time after the fiasco that was the X800 series. I guess not...if this keeps up, ATI may lose its role as a major player in the graphics card industry. Nvidia already has a monopoly on game optimization, making things hell for ATI users. There is almost no reason to buy an ATI card at all these days.

Yes........With 16 pipes ATI better pull a rabit out of a hat.......I guess since they are making the gpu for the xbox 360 things won't be absolutely messed up for them if the x1800x series flops.......From what I have read the ATI gpu in the xbox 360 is really nice, and would make a pretty decent video card. Strange really, the x1800x has 16 pipes and the ATI xbox 360 gpu has 48 pipes?

According to this, the x1000x series are gonna be good competition for the g70 series performance wise. Nvidia will be holding up the torch due to the price to performance ratio........If ATI gets some really badass drivers and drops its price then Nvidia will have to watch out. Until then Nvidia will be in the lead.
