Google Launches ‘Near Me Now' Mobile Search
If you've got an Android-powered phone or iPhone, you can try out Google's new mobile search feature called "Near Me Now." Once you give it permission to get location data, it will return a list of local points of interest such as restaurants, bars, and ATMs. I just tried it and it returned a listing of online businesses some of my neighbors either own or are featured prominently. Whoa.

Google mobile engineers John Eric Hoffman and Jussi Myllymaki explain that "Near me now" was designed to help users find out more about what's around them and to make it easier to conduct certain popular searches, like searches for coffee shops and ATMs.
