AMD socket M2 and socket F

looks like 939 and 940 aren't going to be permanent. AMD are making new sockets, called M2 (for desktops) and F (for servers), which will support DDR2.
socket M2 will have 940 pins. it won't be compatible with the current socket 940, and you won't be physically able to put in a 940 CPU, or use an M2 CPU in socket 940 (unless we see another "I hammered in my CPU" haha)
Socket F will have 1207 pins, and will be used for its server CPU's

Thats just because Intel CPU need the extra memory speed, they freakin eat it right up.

AMD's performing excellently just at DDR, and will completely own Intel with DDR2 support.
 
remember how Intel tried to push everyone into RAMBUS?
that's partly why they made the Netburst architecture (high clock speeds instead of better architecture)
