i bolded the high end quad-cores for those of u who want to know which ones to look for in best performance.

i can't wait for that 940 AM2+ XD

ugh, i want this NDA lifted to see benchies!

i recommend waiting for the 945. It is AM3, but it is backwards compatible with AM2 and AM2+, plus saves u money if u ever want to go to DDR3 (meaning saving money on buying a whole new motherboard and new RAM).

edit: just did some google, it seems like the PII will be cheaper than the 2.6 i7

Hmm.... how is the Phenom II 940 expected to compare to the Core i7 920??
Because if its faster and cheaper.... then that would make my day.

Hmm.... how is the Phenom II 940 expected to compare to the Core i7 920??

It's supposed to be a 10-15% improvement over the current Phenoms. This is supported by benchmarks comparing the new 45nm Shanghai opterons to the 65nm Barcelonas.

That should put it slightly ahead of Yorkfield but still behind Bloomfiield.

from what i just read, its amd's solution to the q9000's
its not in competition with the i7

the graph i saw ( cant link it to you because i googled it and the page is no longer up) , but the graph i saw showed the 940 about 20% faster in the 3dmark06 cpu score than the q9300 and q9400, in another forum, they were saying it was on par with the q9550 and should cost less than the q9650

this is good news either way you look at it, if amd just quit all together, then the prices of the new intels wouldnt have anything to compete against.
