From what I've heard, the new 6 core AMD chips are expected to be released around spring, or the 2nd 1/4 of 2010. I have found a couple pics of the new MSI 890fx-GD70 board. Not sure on the 6 PCIE slots, tho. I've also heard that AMD is looking to phase out their Phenom II line of CPU's in favor of the new architecture. New 975 CPU is rumored to have the socket AM3r1. However the 975 will be based off the Deneb/Phenom platform. Personally, I wish AMD would shy away from the plastic CPU socket in favor of a more secure metal retention device instead of just locking the CPU pins.

Fudzilla - AMD readies three new Phenoms
Back in September we reported that AMD was planning to launch a new Phenom II, the 975 Black Edition. The new CPU is almost here, as some regional distributors are already listing it.

Unfortunately we still don't know the price, but we have its spec and it's impressive. Clocked at 3.6GHz, the 975 is AMD's fastest Phenom to date and it will ship with an unlocked multiplier. It has 4 x 512kB of L2 cache and 6MB of shared L3 cache. The only downside is its thermonuclear TDP, rated at 140W.

However, consumers looking for something greener and cooler can look forward to the Phenom II X4 910e. It's clocked at 2.6GHz, has 2MB of L2 and 6MB of L3 cache, but it's TDP is a rather modest 65W. It's already listed in our price search engine here at a rather hefty €145,- to €160,-.

Halfway in between AMD will launch the Phenom II X4 820. It's clocked at 2.8GHz, has a 95W TDP, 2MB of L2 and 4MB of L3 cache. It is probably the most sensible of the three, but 3.6GHz just sounds better.

The new CPUs should launch pretty soon, but we're still far from sure about the launch date or pricing. Expect prices to be similar the CPUs they are replacing, the 965, 905e and 810.

nice looking board with a decent layout.....but why only 2 RAM slots? and why on earth does it have IDE? 6 core CPU's shouldn't be used with IDE drives lol

What's that blue port on the rear I/O? Not the USB 3 ports, the one above the USB 2 ports.

But yeah, cool board ;)

Anyone know if AMD new architecture CPUs will be AM3 compatible (i.e. Bulldozer)? If not I think AM3 has had a relatively short span compared to AM2/+.

I still come across ide hard drives that I need to connect to my machine to retrieve data from.

So even though a rarely use ide I am glad my p6t has one.

^ I'm not really sure, but I think the other mysterious ports on the back I/O panel are E-SATA/USB. They can be used as both, IIRC.

The blue port on the back is USB3.. This board will come equipped with SATA 3 6 gb/sec and USB 3.0.

No idea yet.. From what I've heard, AMD is going to phase out the Phenom II line so who knows what the Bulldozer platform will use for a socket. The 975 is supposed to be AM3r1, or a revised AM3 socket.
