No as in they upgrade like mad people, Ricanflow scored an 8800gt 512mb (DualSlot MSI edition) + 8500gt for $85...
He sold it because he found an 9800gx2 for like $400

Kids in my school actually got mad at me cause my parents paid for my comp. They are like "zomg we can't go on myspace cause we have these things called "pen-tea-um-forz" and "intergrated or segregated idk graphics! wahhh"" ....
It just makes it alllllll the more sweet when i go home and look at 4 diffrent cpu core temps
Did he REALLY find a 8800 gt 512, doesnt matter what kind, with a 8500 gt? for $85? omg.. im joining that forums...

I think the 4850's are still a better buy. It's still cheaper, and the 9800 GTX+ would be approaching the limits of what G92 can do.
4850's can overclock like mad. Gurusan got his to run faster than a GTX 280.....
Hopefully the die shrink of GT200 will be more competitive though

I find it hard to believe that
HD4870 has 20% higher clock and 80% higher memory bandwidth than HD4850, yet it doesn't beat GTX 280
Moreover, how did he know that his overclocked HD4850 is faster than GTX 280 ? Did he make side to side comparison ?
Talking is easy, but he should show us some proofs before we make his claims as an absolute fact.

They manged to get 9800GTX+ up to 855MHz on the core, 2200MHz on the shaders and 2550MHz memory speed with full stability.
Note: 9800GTX+ is based on 55nm process but the older versions of GPU-z say 65nm
