Well, its not a prank, but its really boring.
Also, surround sound from two speakers is nothing new.

You'd think that with that much hype, they'd have at least used something interesting... I mean, listening to someone shake a box of matches is REALLY boring.

well to me I have a 7:1 set up anyway.. but I didint think it was possible with a 2 speakers.. its just cool how you can like feel it above you

It's just simple phase changes in the sound for these things.

havent heard it yet but im pretty sure they r just shifting the phase of L and R.
try flipping one side of the speakers red and black speaker cable and listen to some CD.
there u have the surround sounds (so fake). and makes u wanna puke if u listen to it in the middle.
