one of my friends seems to be obsessed with the UK Football Hooliganism. Seems to idolise movies like The Football Factory and Green Street Hooligans. I really don't understand his fanisation with this lifestyle as I have yet to see him at a football game, let along a fight. And even though he might act all tough, he most likely the first run back to mommy with a bleeding nose.
That stuffs real, though.
I went to a Leicester v Nottingham Forest game once. BAD IDEA !
I thought i was going to get lynched. There was like ~2000leicester supporters and 20000 Nottingham forest supporters (away game). We had to be police escorted out by about 50 to 100 policemen so we wern't all beat up outside the grounds
Yeh, England goes pretty mad when the World Cup arrives. It's a huge thing for us. Everywhere you go the World Cup is mentioned, heck i even saw a World Cup deal at Tesco that gave South African bananas for half price, any excuse to stick the world cup badge on things.
But yeh.. everywhere you go there are england flags, probably 1 in 3 cars that drives by has an England flag sticking out the window, beer sales go way though the roof, and my local high school closes during england games because no boys turn up.
My college just post pones lessons and gets everyone in the assembly hall with the huge 250inch projector on for the England games
Stand outside in a town or city when a goal is scored, and you'll know it. Cheers can be heard from all around.
I never saw that much in football/soccer. I was in Mexico once during the World Cup and they were going nuts... until Mexico lost.
I'd rather watch some gridiron football or even baseball. Rugby might even be nice as it has lots of contact.
Ahhh, good old Rugby. It's like american football for men, who don't need to be buried under 6 feet of protective gear
