Why XP?

Okay... It was kinda-sorta understandable when Apple named it's newest OS "Mac OS X" because 'X' is the Roman numeral for ten, and ten comes after nine.
But when Micro$oft released Windoze XP... I'm not really sure that anyone knows for sure what the XP even stands for? Any ideas?

My first guess is XP for X-tra Poopie, but I didn't think they'd do that to themselves

I think it stands for "eXPerience".

I actually like XP (Professional), not quite as much as 2K, but close.

mine crashes at least once per week, on XP
although it is a lot more stable than 98 was, at least 5 times a day it crashed

The Mac is a good computer but the price is outragous(sp). I was also brought up in a Windows world and I would learn Linux before delving into the OS X.

I hate m$ but i think that win XP pro is the best os out there at the moment... especially when as customised as mine is...

as for macs.. i hate those evil crappy machines with a passion and the only way i would touch one with a barge pole would be to beat the hell out of it!
