The main benefit in getting the AM3 chips is that it will probably last him much longer then the AM2+ chips which won't work on AM3 boards. But AM3 chips work on AM2+ boards.

While I doubt AM3 chips will release for any more then the 920 and 940 just did. So its a win win, as far as waiting is concerned. Its 01/12/2009 right now. He'll have to wait less then a month.

You COULD also wait for the AM3 chips and maybe pick up an AM3 board instead.

2GB cause im running xp and the gpu takes up lots of ram.
