I would like to be a Network Administrator or a System Administrator, what kind of things should I know? programming languages? Applications? Topics: OS's? Networking? Any help would be appreciated, thanks.

well networking is a no brainer, and well i am doing a network course here, and i have completed coruses in:

DOS, UNIX, WIN2K Server, Exchange server 2000, Novell Netware 5.5, Cisco intertenworking, Microsoft Office, and Advancded Microsoft Office, Hardware Fundamentals, Hardware Troubleshooting, Networking Fundamentals, Network design and analysis

and in my last semester i am going to be doing SMS Server, Microsoft Client, Current Trends, Periphiriles, Security, and some other person al development courses.

I love the course, it is awesome, though the last semester was hard ass and dropped my GPA to a 3.64 :(

Bu i got one more semester to get it back up.

id say look into some sort of cisco academy course, as well as anything along the lines of my course, i am doing a course called Computer Support Specialist.

hope that helps

Unix/Linux knowledge is a ray of sunshine to an employer looking over job applications. Alot of companies are switching over from Microsoft, and right after i went and got my MCSA, go figure.
