People make six digit salaries using Adobe Photoshop, $600 is a fair price to pay for something that is going to make you millions. The product isn't meant for 15 year old computer nerds who want to make signatures on computer tech websites, the software is meant for huge companies who need a good looking logo or ad. Take a look around, I bet over 60% of the ads you see every day, whether on TV or in town, are built from Photoshop.
Pirating software, well, I can honestly say that I don't want to pay for it. I'm really scared for hardcore pirates, because if MS does the piracy act, and enables the government to go into your personal computer any time they feel fit, there will be MANY people being sued and even going to prison.
Right now I probably have anywhere from five to eight thousand dollars worth of warez on my computer. That includes my three operating systems, all my games, Photoshop, Premiere, and many many other applications.
Oh well, by the time Longhorn comes out I'll be well on my way with a well paying job and enough money to afford the software I want.
I'm not going to sit here and say that I would buy the software if I had the money, because I probably wouldn't. People are going to continue to do stuff that they can get away with. When they learn that the government is peaking around inside their computers, they will probably stop. It's the same thing with everything else, look how fast shop lifting dropped when those magnet things were placed near the doors.
I will say though, that yes, warez is wrong, and yes, I do warez. I'm sure all of you on this website have had some form of pirated software on all of your computers at some time or another, if not software, music or movies. Hell, back when Napster was starting out my mom was one of the first people to have it, we downloaded hundreds of songs within the first three hours. She had no idea then that what she was doing was wrong. And now, when I go to download something it doesn't even cross my mind that I am doing something illegal.
If they want us to stop they need to take action, not sit in their fancy leather chairs, smoke Cuban cigars and discuss it.
