Yeah Chris, what Sevoma said. I am pretty sure the providers will be out during outtages. Unless they have a mechanism of just having the VOIP connections up and running. I presumed they didn't. But, I should check.
 
I do not personally use Vonage myself. I use ATT Call Vantage and am very pleased with it as well. The call quality is nearly as good as your standard phone. There will be occasions where you will hear crackles or stuff, but usually it is very clear for both ends of the conversation. There are plenty of good VOIP providers out there. Vonage is a good one but my choice ended up being ATT Call Vantage.
 
my brother lived here for 30 days because he went out to south carolina and then rented out his place and need the people to move and he gave them 30 days and the problem is that I love to download games at the time and he said it sounded like a cell phone probably because I was stealing all of the bandwith.
