Testing my bandwidth speed

I don't know which one is correct.
Different sites gives me different results anywhere from 1.2-3.5mbps.
Does anyone know what is the best accurate way to check the broadband speed?
Also, any sites that you can recommend that is close to accurate?

dslreports.com has a good tester http://www.dslreports.com/tools click on speed test i think. the download speeds vary because each website may be on a different server which have different upload speeds they are capable of. they may have limits set for each connection also so you would not alwaays get maximum throuhput from them if restrictions are set.

Best to test between near and far servers.

Keep in mind that the connection will not perform at 100% - there is always some overhead.

Also, the faster your connection is, the more speed loss there will be.
