Stupid Corporate Networks

So...I am trying to visit random websites (some work related) and I cant view them because they require a higher version of the flash plugin. Do I have sufficient rights to install it, of course not. That would be way to easy. I call the help desk and ask if there is a way to get this installed and he tells me I have to put in a purchase request for the software. I say it is a free plugin. He says well the only to get software installed is though a purchase order request. I asked if they every push updates? He says "I think they do". I said they do, that is how our security stays up to date and that is how our virus definitions get updated and how I original received the office suite. I asked if there was a known list of updates that will be implented. He states if there is, I dont know about it. I ask if there is any way that I can recommend that this be included in an update, he says no.

GRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRr!!!!!!!!!1!1!

You should just talk with the system administrator or one of the higher IT staff. They're probably unaware and would probably put it on the update list for you.

I share your pain.

Boss Man insisted that we install ISA server this time round*. I am hating every second of it.

It's not the fact that cyber blugding is harder now that I can no longer get Eve Online to work on my workstation. It's the simple fact that various supplier websites (and many other work related site) now just do not work.

* The regulare Server 2003 complete rebuild that happens every six months.

I work at a college as a network administrator and although I am not at the top of the chain I know all the ways around :)
