Sushi is something that the majority of people at college won't have heard of and certainly won't even try. Have tried to convert my friends before with no luck.

How can someone not at least have heard of sushi?

I've always wanted to try it but I've only had supermarket-crap sushi, not proper sushi from a Japanese restaurant, for example. Promised myself I'm going to one for birthday dinner in Oct :3

Some of my friends seem to survive on the three staples in life; ciggarettes, coke and chips with curry sauce

I am a sushimi and par broiled sushi person, don't really like as much sushi when its served as is although I do still like it. Its rare to get a good sushi restaurant in the UK as some of the fish are specialist to East Asian coast line and the techniques can be very complex and difficult to master. Its also steeped with tradition that adds to the effect when eating the sushi to take it from nice food to a great experience.

The Japanese restaurant I'm thinking of is in central Oxford, it's like the only one there, and it's _very_ expensive! I expect it will meet my expectations (how's that for a sentence?).

My staple food is rice, with butter+soy sauce, every teatime, every night, 'cept on the weekends where I often eat something more healthy and sensible.
And I eat cereal+milk every morning, and pasta every lunch.
I have a very boring culinary life :p
