If two typers type two pages in two minutes, how many typers does it take to type 18 pages in 6 minutes? this problem has been bugging me all day. i finding conflicting answers. if anyone can give me a hand, i'd be grateful

2 typers in 2 min = 2 pages
2 typers in 6 min = 2x3 = 6 pages

18pages/6pages x 2 types = 6 typers

So u need 6 typers

lol thanks. one more thing, i've been talking to my friend on MSN, her mum's the maths co-ordinator at my school. her mum says "you can't times typers with pages, they're unlike terms". Does it still work?

Who know what his mom is talking about. :).. It's fine..

This is with the assumption all types have the same productivity.

um, just a novice's thing here.

if it were 6 t 18 = 6m, if you simplified it, wouldn't it then read

2 t 6 =2m, which compares to the starter 2 t 2 = 2m. wouldn't that then make it wrong?

sorry, the 6 t 18 = 6m is saying 6 type 18 pages in 6 minutes. should have pointed that out

there are 9 times the pages, and 3 times the time
multiply 2 (typers) by 9 (times the pages)
divide by 3 - there is 3 times the time
and you get 6 typers needed
