Well, not just thinking about it... I AM getting one. I came up with a meaningful design that I really like and I made an appointment. The thing is, oddly enough, I'm not 100% sure where to put it.

I guess I've got two options. My first idea was to do it on the tricep, so as I walked away from you, the tattoo was easily visible. Well, then I changed my idea to the side, where it's also easily visible. Then my buddy piped up and said, dude, shift it back a bit. He said it looks more unique if it's shifted back a bit. He said if it's on the side of my arm it just doesn't look like it has the same effect as it would if it were shifted back a bit.

Look at it like this... you're walking behind me, yet also sort of beside me. You're at my 4:30 o'clock. So you're not directly beside me (3 o'clock) or behind me (6 o'clock), you're kind of in the middle, diagonally over there somewhere. From that stance at 4:30, the tattoo would be facing you then.

Any thoughts on that? I guess I'm just looking for some kind of opinion on the location dilemma I'm in. I have two weeks until I go in for it, but nonetheless the undecisiveness bugs me out. Thoughts??

It's molsen. He just does that from time to time.

The key thing is to keep it looking "in place" If it is hard to in-vision, go to the store and get a 25 cent lick 'n stick tattoo. Put it where you were thinking and see how it looks.

I'd either go with the side or shifted back a bit...definitely not all the way back.

I'm liking the shifted back idea the most though.

Are you getting a tattoo for everyone else? Or for you? I personally dont see the point in getting a tattoo to show off to everyone else. Especially when you say you're getting something meaningful.

Tattoos on the outer part below the shoulder are COMPLETE cheese in my opinion and i usually think of people who have them as complete tw*ts. I'd say go with getting it on the inside of your arm. That's where i started.

I have a half sleeve on my right arm and it's such a pain in the *** when people who have never seen it decide they want to take a look at it. I've had it for several years and it never gets any less annoying.
Some A-hole said:
"OMG HEY LOOK A TATTOOO!!! Can i see it? OMG did it hurt? Blah blah blah blah blah."

Anyway, im ranting. BUT, i will say try to come up with a design yourself and get the artist to draw it out for you. Dont just get something off some flash on the wall. Just imagine you walking around with a tattoo that someone else in your neighborhood probably has as well. LOL.

I like how your buddy mentioned it would be "unique". So you are getting a tatoo so you can be unique just like everyone else who has a tatoo. I forget who said it but they said something similar to "when i got tatoos that made me different, if i had known everyone was going to get a tatoo i would have stayed different by not getting a tatoo."

I have yet to find something I want put on my body that I would want to stay there for the rest of my life.

make your own design, don't get one from a book most good tattoo artsists are just that "artists" so ask them to help you design it if you have no creative talent.

Don't go cheap ask around a bit see there hygiene standards in your local tattoo places if you are not happy with them don't go there simple as.

Tattoo artist specialise in certain styles so look at there portfolio and make sure they do similar style to what you want or else it is pointless getting it from them.
