okay so there's the occasional screw up. your comparing two completely different things. one girl getting killed by accident is going to happen, but it was probably just over the lethal dose. you can hardly compare it to a whole generation of kids getting hit by a x35,000 lethal dosage. if you visit the link and read on further you'll see:

I doubt they knew for certain that the dose was lethal at the time. The experiment sounds more like an attempt to see how the human body handled that amount of radiation. There was little knowledge about radiation causing cancer and whatnot at that time.
