put a tick in the tick box

im filling out an application form and they only want it sent via email, theres loads of check boxes and im just wondering can you tick them within word or do you have to print it tick it then scan it again for you to send it via email

heres wat im on about

 
Does it ALLOW you to tick the box? If so then tick it. Why would you print it out? You cant send it electronically if you are holding it. You would have to scan it back.

What do the directions say? They should have at least told you what you had to do to fill out this application. I dont know of anyplace online that only accepts electronic applications that dont have some kind of directions.
 
if its a form within word, lock the document.

In word 03, add the forms toolbar and press the lock icon.

In word 07, Go to the developer tab, select "Protect document" and allow for form editing only.

EDIT: since you dont have the developer tab, go to word options and enable it.

EDIT2: This is all if they setup the form properly.
