The whole Macs run faster with less MHz is due to RIsC (Reduced instruction set Computer) structures, whereas IBM's use CISC (Complex instruction set Computer) structures. The first is good for graphics, whereas CISC is good for databases.
Although AMD just has more commands (I think)... that and the newer ones have their own memory management built into the chip, whereas intel has its own bus for memory outside the chip
