Problem with REM cycles is it's random, especially if you wake up a lot through the night.
Mine seem to be roughly 45 minutes, regularly enough to figure out when I should wake up anyway.

Gotta cash in on those REM cycles, you can't just sleep x amount and know you'll wake less sleepy, you have to wake up inbetween cycles.

Not accounting for insomnia.TGIF! Gonna buy burgers & wings for lunch, swing past the bottlo on the way home and grab a carton of booze, then spend the evening at the park on my electric skateboard with said carton. Shaping up to be a good day
It's based off your circadian rhythm IIRC, so not entirely random. For me, I keep my blinds open so that the sun is my alarm clock. Seems to be working well so far Sleep may be one of those things that's hardly understood at all, but when people keep entirely artificial schedules and then complain they don't sleep great..I dunno. Seems not that surprising to me
edit: RANT TIME AGAIN. ****head who used to be my manager lodges a job saying he's created LastPass accounts for two users, please install the plugin for them. So I install the plugin, get to the point that says "enter your account details", then email ****head manager saying it's ready for him to enter the account details. 10 mins pass and I get a message saying "I went over to demo how to use lastpass but there are no accounts created? I thought you said the job was done?"
I ain't no doc so I'm hardly qualified to comment, but again seems to me that bad schedules can only exacerbate sleeping issues.
I've been on the same sleeping schedule for 2 years straight. Insomnia comes from a wide variety of things and is different for each person. After years of issue it becomes pretty complicated to fix the issue outside of becoming dependent on substance. In the original topics of REM sleep, REM cycles have a variance each night and is impacted on your diet, sleep schedule, stress, anxiety, and/or depression levels. This is a topic that is studied a bit in psychology classes, and is something I've been experimenting on myself for years. I've tried adjusting my alarm to REM cycles before and it just doesn't work even if you go to bed and wake up at the same time every day.
Edit: I'm not trying to say I'm a sleep specialist, but I did study the subject a bit in school as part of a course and have dealt with many sleep specialists myself over the past 10 years.
Well, insomnia is one of the things I listed a while back and is one of my biggest issues besides my teeth and back. I'd be willing to bet half of my issues vanish when I get my mouth done, no joke. Course, not being able to afford a 30k procedure means I suffer. I have a strong feeling the infection will make my migraines, depression, most of my insomnia, and a slew of other problems go away. Worst case, I have permanent damage I have to live with.Dude you seem to suffer from everything
