"Warped" just enough to have a barely noticeable gap when you stretch a string (not a guitar string) from the top to the bottom of the neck and both ends are in the same spot?

Can you get a pic of what you mean? There is supposed to be a slight bow in your neck that is concave. If you don't have the proper bow out in your neck then I suggest adjusting your truss rod.
