So... why do we call a small round bump with buttons a mouse?

Who thinks we should change the name 'mouse'?

Why complicate an issue that's doesn't need to be complicated and isn't even an issue to begin with?

It's called a mouse not because of it's function but because of the animal it resembles. It's shape is very similar to that of a rodent's body. What's so complicated about that?
