I've just recently found out that neurosurgeons earn over $18,000 a week, or roughly $1,000,000 a year.

Every day, the neurosurgeon earns enough money to purchase any one of the following...

1 used car.
1 plasma television.
4 new computers.
2 new water-cooled gaming computers.
13 new PlayStation 2's.
42 new games for his PlayStation 2.
1 ton of grocery shopping.
1 luxury cruise.
3 days at a resort hotel.

Every week, the neurosurgeon earns enough money to purchase any one of the following...

1 new car.
2 ultra-large plasma televisions.
30 new computers.
10 new water-cooled gaming computers.
90 new PlayStation 2's.
300 new games for his PlayStation 2.
9 tonnes of grocery shopping.
8 luxury cruises.
3 weeks at a resort hotel.

What we have got to realise is that there are people who live their lives like this and earn so much money while doing so. Sure, they may have to study for 12 years at university and work over 90 hours per week but in the end, it's the money that counts.

So, the question is...

Would you become a neurosurgeon if you were accepted to become one?

dont get me started on malpractice insurance, i mean its nice money and all, but i could never trust myself with someone else's head.

i actually would like to go into neurology. seems odd, i used to want to do pediatrics, but then i thought, why study lil of all these different areas when you can become a specialist. im still not sure of what i want do to, but i no its a doctor or something to do with science.

I guess if that's something that you value. Personally, I think if you are working 90 hours a week, you aren't gonna get a chance to use one (let alone 30) computers.

you're also on call and you're their slave. If they need you, you drop everything and leave.

With that malpractice insurance, they have to pay i think close to half of what they make per year in just insurance bills.

yeah, but isnt that if they suck at it, lol. i mean if you do it right, your rate wouldnt increase right?

Waste 12 years of your life studying so that you can work 90 hours a week? No salary is worth that to me.

Id do it for like 2 years and then just drop evreything and quit

I thinkd Id have a nice wad of cash to play with :D

And then your 32 years old and had no fun in your twentys :(

Also, keep in mind that about 10% of all your patients will die or become severly disabled due to the surgery.
