hi, i need help writing my essay. I DO NOT need it written for me, I would just like hints or tips on how to set it up. Like how many body paragraphs and what they should each be about. Thanks!
Here is the prompt- Lord of the Flies Essay
Background- In the video we watched in class, Golding discusses the effect of WWII had on him. He says WWII changed his attitude towards humans when he became aware of the "absolute evil operating there." (Holocaust) Golding says he came to a realization that "I have a nazi in me. Given the right circumstances, I could have been a Nazi." Golding explains that WWII "changed my view of what people were capable of, and changed his view of "what human nature was". He realized th "capacity man had for absolute evil." Golding also explains before WWII, he held the belief that if we coudl alter the socail system (bring in socialism) things would be good. After WWII golding felt his pre-existing belief was false.

Essay- Do you agree with golding's assessment of humanity, that given the right(or wrong) circumstances, all humans are capable of committing "absolute evil"?

Explain your stance in an essay by using examples from the novel the Lord of the Flies and your own life experiences.

Set it up the same as writing a theme. Five paragraphs.

First one is introduction, stating your view, and three pionts that support your opinion.

Second, third, and fourth paragraphs state the support for you opinion, one paragraph for each point.

Fifth paragraph wraps it all together, restating what was said in the first one.

Just make sure your word count is big enough.

Do English teachers still enforce strict paragraph # rules? For me, a paragraph should be a self-contained entity at some level. Where you describe some idea to completion at some "level of detail" that you have established for the whole "essay".. Meh.. What do I know. I don't write essays anymore.. Just reports...

at school we have been taught that in the main body of the essay, each paragraph should be structured like this:

1. point. what you have to say
2. quote. backup what you say
3. explain. what it means, or shows.

D*** ENglish teachers... Why do they feel the need to tell you how to write the "flow" of the bloody essays. They should just stick with teaching grammar.

And why the hell do they force students to learn Shakespeare when most of the students don't even know the basics of modern grammar.

EDIT: I see our favourite D word has been added to the filter list..
