My CPU blew up

I have an opteron and it is the god of socket 939 as far as I'm concerned. Most of them (the vast majority) overclock effortlessly, to the point that I don't even run tests after major changes in my BIOS, with the exception of my very first time overclocking. Really its all in your budget though. If you have cash I would take a look at the Athlon 4800 X2s. 2 gigs is a must if you go dual core.

EDIT: go look in the newegg promos thread in the buying and selling section.

hillbillybob,
It sucks to be you. I hope you can find another Socket 754 processor.

I no longer trust MSI's D bracket with the four LEDS and there BIOS beep codes, there site said my BIOS beep codes on my old rigged where RAM related yet the D-Led said it was the keyboard controller failing to initialize...

hmmmm....now when My vid card blew up a few years back, the D-Bracket did a good job of Identifing it.

Ill post back with my specs when I get them...gotta let a few paychecks roll first :D

Well, if they weren't so **** expensive on eBay, I would recommend the socket 754 3700+ Clawhammer like I have. People are getting almost $200 out of them on there.
