Now, if you could afford to buy a HP DesignJet A1 Printer ; then why would you be interested in HP Most Bottom-Of-The-Line / Entry-Level PDA?

And yet some of thier other books are offering more sufficated PDA models.

Who does HP think they are fooling here?
:rolleyes:

many people, It is a good marketing tactic in my oppinion. Many people debating between high end printers may be swayed by a free palm pda.

in a thread earlier to this one you were debating between 2 video cards that perform very similar if the difference was neglible but one offered a free pda would you not go for that one ??

But there is a difference between a video card that it worth about AU$250 and Printer Series that that starts at AU$3000.

I find that it's silly that HP is offering better PDAs (iPAQ 4150 and 2210) with some of there notebooks that are :-
* Cheaper
* A more commen sale item.
* A Much greater demand.

And yet, with this HP DesignJet (which is not some thing that is an "off-the-shelf" item when it comes down to selling one), they are only offering a low end PDA.

If i was in the market for a A1 Printer, and if some was offering a free entry level PDA along with the deal (Market Value of iPAQ 1930 is AU$380), this would not effect my final purchasing desision.

Since HP DesignJet are a very specilised item in the first place, I would be offering at least some thing that is a mid range PDA. At least a HP iPAQ 2210.

but if you were looking at 2 printer both at the 3000 mark and all other things being equal or similar enough the pda is an added bounus meant to put it over the top

it dosent matter if it is 3000 or 60 000 purchase incentives are incentives. 1000 cash allowance on a car is not a big deal when veiwed as a % of the total car value, but when it is 1000 more than the equivilant car manufaturer is offering it is the better deal and thats what will push people to decide which one to get, which is what companies are looking for it is the extra edge against competition that is mechanicaly equivilant

Ditto. I just think that HP is insulting the buyer by giving him JUST a HP iPAQ 1930. Especially when you see the rest of the give aways they are going on under products.

I know that HP is trying to dump product (as they always to on australia.) But considering that the current give aways are as follows :

HP iPAQ 2210 on selected NX9010 and all NX7010 Series Notebook
HP iPAQ 4150 on Compaq Persario R3003AP
HP iPAQ 1930 on Selected DesignJet A1 Printer.

Plus there is some CASH BACK bonus on select laser printers.

You would thing that the give away bonus on the DesignJet would be a little better.

Personally, I would of done the following :-
HP iPAQ 1930 on selected NX9010
HP iPAQ 2210 on NX7010 Series Notebook
HP iPAQ 1930 (maybe HP iPAQ 2210) on Compaq Persari R3003AP
After all the Persario is a piece of junk.
HP iPAQ 4150 on the DisignJets.

I find that it's a bit of a joke that the common off the self items get the better give aways.

HP doesn't have to give away squat..... How about being happy with something that ended up in your pocket for FREE!!

I am not saying that HP needs to give away any thing. Personally I love freebies. They are great for getting customers in for marketing, and it's nice to sell some thing that you paid $0.

To be quite honest, I tend pocket most of the give aways myself and pass the goods off at a slightly lower price / at cost / under cost. Mainly because i will make my margin from the freebie.

My main point is that the free give away with the DesignJet A1 Printer (which is a specialised, exclusive and expensive) is pretty weak if you compair them with the current HP Notebook with free give away.

I have all ready has a chat with some of my collegues and consultants, and their oppinion is "That's a bit of a joke..."
