I loved math.... was great at it till I hit college, and enrolled in the wrong honors math class..... opps.... had to MEMORIZE all the equations, and only could use a small little calc, no graphing calc. Oh well....
KMAN, are you familiar with PEMDAS? Thats what you use to solve for X....
(this is dumb, but it is a trick to try an remember it.... learned this about 12 or more years ago.....)

Sally (Subtraction)
When working equations, you are supposed to work from left to right with PEMDAS, addition & subtraction being last.....
The "work" is shown in bracets [].
2x + 8 / 2 = 14
multiply both sides of the equation by 2......
[2x + 8 / 2 * 2 = 14 * 2]
2x + 8 = 28
then subtract 8
[2x + 8 - 8 = 28 - 8]
2x = 20
divide both sides of equation by 2
[2x / 2 = 20 / 2]
x = 10
Fairly simple.... do a few problems, and you'll get the hang of it.
