Image type change

I just scanned an image that I want as my avatar. When I tried to upload it, it said that it wasn't a valid JPG or GMP(or something like that) file. I tried to simply change the .bmp to a .jpg file, but obviously that didn't work. How do I make the image a "valid" one?

Use this program and open the picture then click on save and pick the file type you want.

OK so you can also do this with Microsoft Paint but I like this program much better for this

Ok, another question: I would like to have a fancy sig like some of you. I would like a service that offers the cool sigs for FREE. Last time I asked, the link provided sent me to some place where you gotta pay by the month to keep it! I would not like that, please

If you are good at photoshop make up a pic you like and if you have some web space save it to there and link to it using html. Mine is a html link to my F@H stats for team ABIT.
