I startet with 6...used some, then i had 2 left and a few minutes later it were 6 again..I don't think they go away.
Do you know how that works? do you get one invite every hour or something?

I have a feeling that those who are teh most active with gmail get the invites. My gmail is now one of my two main email accounts I use.
