Haha, I occasionally receive old PB machines to fix, but I refuse to work on them anymore because they're a big pain to take apart. My dad almost bought one of those a decade ago, until he heard of the horrid experiences from a friend.
Packard Bell used to put out computers in the US, many years ago. They were very proprietary... put Dell to shame.
They were also basically non-upgradeable... what you bought was what you got.
Packard Bell stop selling in the US many years ago due to poor sales. People figured out that buying one was to buy a white elephant, and they bottomed out. They are still sold in Europe, but they are totally different than the junk that was sold in the US.
