I want to get a dvr but since I'm cheap I only want to spend up to $100 and want something that doesn't need a subscription. So what I've found is that I could take my old computer and add a tuner card and dvr software or get a refurbed series 1 Tivo from Philips. I just want something that will record stand definition by timer and let me rewind live tv brodcast. I don't need the guide that you get with a subscription but if theres a way to have it that would be a plus.
Basically I'm just wondering if anyone has experience with these and could suggest which one to go with. Also if I should go with a home built dvr which tuner card and software would be good?
